Daycare Thief Used Toy Hummer To Try and Hide Face

A daycare thief was caught on camera doing things before his break-in that may have some wondering what he was thinking – like using a little toy Hummer to try and hide his face. Or using a trash can to try and hide his entire body while he sneaked past a swing set.

After the door didn't work, he threw a rock through the window. Then his shenanigans outside were over, and he was inside Miami's Kinder Kollege Academy around 1 o'clock early Monday.

"I was sad," the daycare's owner said. "I was furious because I see these kids as my own. I spend a lot of time with them and I try to give them many things they don't have at home. For somebody to come in and do this to them, it just made me very upset."

The daycare's owner is too afraid to identify herself because the man is still on the streets and she believes he lives nearby.

Once inside, with a cut hand, the man's first stop was the refrigerator, the surveillance video showed. And yes, he helped himself to what was inside.

After touring the daycare on Northwest 27th Avenue, he found the TV mounted on the wall, took that down, then took one of the kid's rugs on the floor to wrap it up.

"These are kids," the owner said. "You don't come in here and eat their snacks and drink their milk and take their stuff. They're kids."

Suspect Sought in Fatal Hallandale Beach Burglary

Now, things are back to normal at Kinder Kollege Academy – which has only been open for six months.

The owner wants the thief to be caught and hopes the pictures that captured the burglary, and a closeup of the thief's face, will lead to his arrest.

If you have any information, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
