Right from the very start of the game, Miami Hurricanes fans had little to cheer about. The team got hammered in its Sweet Sixteen showdown against Marquette.
The school's official watch party was at Buffalo Wild Wings at Sunset Place, where the official feeling amongst fans was doom and gloom.
"I really thought and expected them to keep going, and I really wish we had, it would have been really fun," UM student Christine DeSilva said.
Marquette took the early lead in the game and never looked back. Canes fans hoped for a better performance in the second half. It never happened.
The loss ended a dreamy season for the men's basketball team, which was ranked second best in the country at one point during the regular season.
Despite Thursday’s loss many are seeing the bright side.
"It's been a thrill ride," said student Theron Guerra. "We went from not being known nationally to everyone knowing who we are, out of nowhere there was all of this popularity."
