Scuba gear replaced baskets Sunday at the annual underwater Easter egg hunt in Key Largo.

About 80 adults and children participated in the hunt at the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary where eggs were placed by Spencer Slate, the owner of the Atlantis Dive Center.

Slate donned a bunny suit and scuba gear to hide the 160 hard-boiled eggs that were decorated with nontoxic colorings, to avoid negative environmental impact to the marine ecosystem.

The eggs were positioned in the eel grass near Grecian Rocks, a popular Key Largo snorkeling site. Two eggs were colored gold and could be exchanged for Easter baskets.
