A woman was arrested for buying painkillers with a forged prescription made out to her dead dog, The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
Suzanne Lee Kraus, 41, bought 240 Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen pills between July and November 2012 with veterinarian's prescription sheets she had stolen from Dr. Jean Burns at the Floresta Animal Hospital in Boynton Beach, the report said.

Kraus, who worked at the animal hospital from September 2010 to September 2012, made out the prescription sheets to her dog, which had been dead for almost nine months, according to the report.
She made various trip to a nearby Walgreens, but on her last trip a pharmacist faxed the prescription to Burns for verification. The doctor confirmed it was a fraud and told the pharmacist that acetaminophen is toxic to canines, the report said.

When confronted by police, Kraus broke down in tears and told deputies she suffered from back pain and could not afford the medicine, according to the report.

The investigation on Kraus had been ongoing for almost two months. She faces charges including obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, prescription forgery and theft.
Kraus was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail but was released Tuesday on a $40,500 bail, the report said.
