The victims, who are both in their 20s, were pronounced dead at the scene. A dog that was inside the car was injured with a gunshot wound and was removed by a Miami-Dade Animal Services worker.
Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said officers responded after receiving numerous 911 calls of shots fired in the area.
"When officers arrived they found a car completely riddled with bullets, inside the car, two young males and a dog," Reyes said. "Unfortunately, the two young men were pronounced dead at the scene."
The car was later covered with a tarp and removed from the scene on the back of a tow truck with the bodies still inside so police could continue their investigation.
Hours after the incident, police responded to a second shooting in the 100 block of Northeast 14th Street.
Officials said one person who was shot possibly in the leg was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where their condition was unknown.
It's believed the suspect fled the scene in a grey vehicle.
Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
