Authorities say they've arrested a man who fatally stabbed another man during a confrontation after a car crash Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale.

Keema Gooding, 20, was stabbed during an altercation around 12:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of Northwest 8th Court, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Earlier Wednesday, Gooding had been involved in a crash with the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Walter Hart, the BSO said. After the crash, Gooding, his girlfriend and some other friends went to the Northwest 8th Court address where they exchanged words with Hart, the BSO said.

During the confrontation, Hart stabbed Gooding in the chest, the BSO said. Gooding's friends rushed him to Plantation General Hospital but he was transferred to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died.

Hart had been wanted in the stabbing and detectives developed leads early Thursday that led them to several locations, the BSO said.

When they arrived at 1701 Northwest 15th Place around 1 a.m., a woman answered the door and tried to stall detectives, the BSO said.

Hart tried to leave out the back door but was caught with the help of a police dog, the BSO said.

He was booked into jail on charges of second-degree murder and resisting arrest with violence and was being held without bond. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.
