Man Accused of Stealing T.J. Maxx Deposits: Police

A man was arrested for stealing the bank deposits from the safe of a Fort Lauderdale T.J. Maxx, police said Thursday.

Ranier Cox, 30, is believed to be one of the two suspects that on Jan. 29 walked into the store, showed the store manager a handgun and demanded directions towards the safe, according to Fort Lauderdale Police. The store managers feared for their lives and directed the men to the safe, police said.

Once the safe was opened, the suspects grabbed the bank deposit bags and fled the store from the main entrance. The two men jumped into a nearby car and fled the area, police said.

Cox, who was arrested at his home in Boynton Beach on Wednesday, is believed to be responsible for the T.J. Maxx robbery and other armed robberies in the tri-county area, according to police.

He was charged with armed robbery, and it wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.

The nvestigation is ongoing, and additional arrests and charges are pending.
