The decomposed body of a woman in her 80s was found in her home at 120 NW 34th St. Friday afternoon, Miami Police said.
Police identified her as Carmen Diaz.
They said her son found her dead when he was coming by to check on her in the home near Northwest 1st Avenue in Wynwood. She was wrapped in a blanket on her bathroom floor, police said.
The home was partially ransacked, leading police to call her death suspicious.
"We don't know if this is the way she lived, but we see some glass broken. We don't know if there is some sort of struggle that may have occurred," Miami Police spokeswoman Officer Kenia Reyes said.

Shocked neighbor Carmen Garcia said she had coffee with Diaz just last week.
"This afternoon when I saw movement, I couldn't believe what was going on," Garcia said. "I was like what happened, because we had just seen her a week ago, so it was strange to see this."

Garcia said Diaz was popular in the neighborhood – a retired nurse who looked out for everyone. She had lived there for 50 years, Garcia said.
"I don't want to see this," said Diaz's friend Peter Lesano. "She was like my mom."
