Police are looking for a man who robbed a Yellow Cab driver at gunpoint in Fort Lauderdale last week.
The incident began when the driver picked up the customer, who gave his name as "Smith," at Plantation General Hospital around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, Fort Lauderdale Police said Monday.
Smith told the driver he wanted to be taken to an address in the 1300 block of Northwest 7th Street but when they arrived, Smith said he had a gun and he demanded the driver's personal belongings, police said.
The driver told Smith about the car's security cameras but the suspect continued to yell demands as he reached for his waistband. Fearing for his life, the driver complied, and Smith made off on foot with the victim's GPS, iPhone and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Smith is described as a black male in his 30s, about 5-foot-11, 200 pounds with short hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Lauderdale Police at 954-828-6093.
