Four endangered green sea turtles from Sea World in Orlando were en route to the Turtle Hospital in Marathon.
The turtles were being transported by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and were set to arrive on Thursday.
FWC said a large number of the turtles in distress have been coming into the southeastern part of Florida and are being sent to facilities around the state to be treated.
