The Miami Marlins will not have the services of power-hitting outfielder Giancarlo Stanton for the next two weeks. Stanton was placed on the 15-day disabled list after he injured his right hamstring on Monday night.

In the tenth inning of Miami's 15-inning contest with the New York Mets, Stanton strained his hamstring while running out a ground ball. He came up limp after being thrown out at first base, falling to the ground after the play.

He was able to walk off the field on his own, but smacked the ground in frustration before doing so. Stanton will undergo an MRI Tuesday to determine if there is any significant damage.

"We'll find more in depth tomorrow," Stanton told MLB.com Monday night. "But any time you go down, it's not good."

After a slow start to the season, Stanton is hitting just .227 with 3 home runs (all of which occurred over the last weekend) and 9 RBI.

Marlins 'Not Interested' in Trading Stanton: Report

"We're enjoying this win tonight, but at the same time, tomorrow, the reality will set in that Stanton is not in the lineup anymore," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said.

The Marlins also placed first baseman Joe Mahoney on the 15-day DL, and called up outfielder Marcell Ozuna from Double-A Jacksonville and left-handed pitcher Brad Hand from Triple-A New Orleans to fill their roster spots.

"We're bringing up a young kid," Redmond said. "We're going to let him go out there and play. Ozuna is an exciting player. Hopefully, he will come up and provide a spark."
