A man suspected in a carjacking in Pembroke Pines was shot and killed by officers in Miramar late Tuesday night, police said.
The incident began with an armed carjacking of a silver Honda with four people inside around 10:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of Southwest 97th Avenue, Miramar Police spokeswoman Tania Rues said.
Pembroke Pines Police issued an alert to be on the lookout for the Honda, and Miramar Police spotted the car in the area of Southwest 101st Avenue and Pembroke Road, Rues said.
At some point, the officers were forced to open fire, Rues said.
"Two of our officers found a vehicle matching that description, shots were fired, the individual is deceased," she said.
Rues didn't say what made the officers open fire, and the suspect hasn't been identified.
