Patty Hubrig attended the service in memory of her brother, Deputy John “Jack” Greeney III. He died on February 17, 1990 after responding to an armed robbery at Church’s Fried Chicken on West Broward Boulevard.
Greeney was shot and killed during a gun fight with two suspects. The shooters were caught, tried and convicted.
“In my heart I thought I could save him,” said Hubrig, who now has the support of other Broward Deputies. “It was only Jackie and I so now I have a much bigger family, and that's what it means to me. These guys have stuck by us all these years, and I will stick by any of them all the rest of the years that I have.”
