There was no shortage of drama at the Sports Grill in Kendall on Wednesday night, as Miami’s own Karina Iglesias battled on another round of NBC’s "The Voice."
Iglesias survived blind auditions, head-to-head battles and the knockout rounds on the show – but her spectacular “Voice” run came to an end Wednesday night when Shakira decided she should go home.

The coach’s decision in favor of Garret Gardner was devastating for Iglesias’ grandmother, who cried. Her younger fans said they were disappointed.
Win or lose, Iglesias is making her mom Maritza Funez proud.
“I’m very, very happy, very proud of her,” she said. “I cannot ask for anything better.”

Iglesias’ fans were pumped up for Wednesday night’s vote.
The outcome may have been deflating, but Funez said her daughter’s musical mission will continue.
“Let’s see what happens,” Funez said. “Everything is up to God, so he will have something really good for her, and it was a great experience.”
