Two children and six adults were hospitalized in two separate violent crashes in Pompano Beach Thursday morning, authorities said.

In the first crash, reported at 6:39 a.m. in the 600 block of Atlantic Boulevard, an infant was ejected from one of two vehicles involved in the crash, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

According to the BSO, the infant, a woman and another person were in a Pontiac Grand Prix that collided with a Ford Mustang in which two men were riding.

The child had been sitting in a car seat but was not strapped in and the seat wasn't properly restrained, the BSO said.

The infant and two others who were in the Grand Prix were transported to Broward Health Medical Center. The two men were taken to Broward Health North. Their injuries and conditions were unknown.

The crash closed Atlantic Boulevard in both directions at Dixie Highway.

The second crash was reported less than 30 minutes later in the 900 block of W. Sample Road, the BSO said. One child and two adults were taken to Broward Health North where their injuries and conditions were unknown.
