The Miami-Dade school district says it’s pleased to have settled a pair of sexual harassment lawsuits filed by two female officers against its former police chief.

Sources including Charles Hurley, the former leader of the Miami-Dade Schools Police, confirmed the settlement of the lawsuits filed in January. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.

“The district is pleased to have resolved these matters,” Miami-Dade County Public Schools spokesman John Schuster said in a statement. “It is good to put this behind us, move forward in creating a strong police force, and continue to focus on the safety of our students.”

Cmdr. Deanna Fox-Williams and Officer Yewande Gibson claimed that Hurley sexually harassed them while chief, and then retaliated against them after they refused his advances. They filed their suits against Hurley, Superintendent of Schools Alberto Carvalho and the school board.

Hurley was demoted before resigning in February.
