Fort Lauderdale Police arrested two women on Saturday suspected of attacking a taxi cab driver earlier this week.

Kimberly Amber Parker, 29, (below) and Jessica Lee Dennis, 21, have been charged with carjacking, strong-arm robbery and battery, said Fort Lauderdale Police spokesman Frank Sousa.

Taxi driver Joseph Gutierrez de Pineres said he was attacked earlier this week when he went to collect the fare from two female passengers. He was able to fight them off and jump out of the car.

Gutierrez de Pineres had picked them up on Fort Lauderdale Beach where they said they wanted to go to a body shop, then to the home of a family member, then to the airport.

After they drove around for a while looking for banks, he pulled over in a residential neighborhood east of Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale. He said he had almost stopped the cab when he felt a shirt around his neck. One of the women was pulling it, trying to strangle him, he said.

Although Gutierrez de Pineres said he was scared to return to work, he said he will eventually go back to his job so he can pay his bills.
