A teen boy has been charged after a 15-year-old girl was shot in Pompano Beach Monday night, authorities said.
The boy is facing one count of aggravated battery with a firearm in the shooting which was reported around 5:49 p.m. in the 1800 block of Northwest 14th Circle, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
According to the BSO, the victim and her 14-year-old niece were walking in the area with two 15-year-old boys, who they know.
At one point, one of the boys took out a gun and shot the girl in the chest, the BSO said.
The girl and her niece were able to walk two blocks to a relative's house, where Pompano Beach Fire Rescue and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. The girl was taken by air to Broward Health Medical Center.
Her injuries don't appear to be life threatening, the BSO said. Detectives had said they were questioning the boys.
