A Cape Coral man was airlifted to Miami Thursday after being bitten on the hand by a shark.
Walter Kefauver, 58, was bitten on the hand by a 4-foot lemon shark, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's office.
Kefauver and his 18-year-old nephew, Cody Ellis, were fishing on board an 18-foot Action Craft Flats boat near Snipe Point in the Lower Keys. They had just caught a Bonefish and were trying to catch a shark, police said.

The two baited their hook with a piece of Barracuda and managed to hook a 4-foot lemon shark. When they tried to remove the shark from the hook, it lunged at Kefauver, police said. It bit deep into his left hand near his wrist.
Ellis called 911 for help.
Kefauver was taken to Lower Keys Hospital, then airlifted to Miami, police said.
The injury was reportedly not life threatening. But the local hospital was not equipped to handle the treatment needed for Kefauver's hand.
