The Broward County School Board approved new opening and closing times at 23 schools and centers for the 2013-2014 school year.
The amount of time changed for most schools is between five and 15 minutes.
The time changes will save the school district about $500,000 in transportation costs. The school board approved the time changes on Tuesday, it said in an email statement.
"Each year, the Transportation Department conducts a review and evaluation of its services to ensure that appropriate resources are in place to meet student transportation needs and compensate for student and program growth. This year’s review also considered opportunities to minimize and reduce operational costs to the District," the school board said in the statement.
The new changes are expected to streamline bus routes and increase transportation services, the school board said.
