Family photos paint a picture of a beautiful woman who decided to get buttocks injections. According to her family, on April 11, 28-year-old Suyima Torres paid $2,300 in cash for rear-enhancing injections at Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics on the 8400 block of West Flagler Street.
Moments later she would be spotted disoriented outside the center by a neighboring business owner who only identifies himself as Naveed.
"I was looking at her and she fell down so I went outside, I picked her up, I asked her where's her car," he said. Naveed said he then called 911.
Torres' mother, Coralia Espinosa, said her daughter was then rushed to the hospital accompanied by the center's owner, Ruth Planas – who never told the doctors about the procedure, according to Espinosa.
"Maybe if that woman would've told them early my daughter would still be here," she said.
Torres died 10 hours after receiving the injections, leaving behind two daughters, ages seven and eight.
NBC 6 has not been able to reach Planas for comment. Her center is now closed. She has not been named a suspect in the death of Torres, which is under investigation by Miami-Dade Police.
Torres' death happened just 16 days after 20-year-old Dailen Garcia says she received buttocks injections at the same center and then suffered vision problems and bleeding of the lungs, and was hospitalized in an intensive care unit. Her attorney, Jorge Gutierrez, is preparing to take that case to court.
"All the physicians in the medical records have directly linked the cosmetic injections with the damages that she’s had," Gutierrez said.
