A Sarasota man was arrested after bringing his 6-year-old son with him to buy drugs, according to authorities.

Gregory Wagner, 48, and his friend, Fallon Miller, 32, drove to a north Sarasota home, an area with recent drug-related, violent crimes, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said.

“Wagner knowingly put the 6-year-old child at risk,” the sheriff's office said in a statement.

Just as they were leaving the residence, the two were stopped by deputies for a traffic violation, according to the sheriff's office.

The child was found sitting between the two adults. Miller later admitted to hiding a crack pipe beneath the child, authorities said.

Miller also tried to hide the crack cocaine from deputies by putting it in her mouth, but after a short struggle, they were able to take it as evidence, the sheriff's office said.

Wagner faces charges including child abuse and possession of cocaine, in what is his 17th arrest in Sarasota County, the sheriff's office said. Miller faces charges including possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence for her 22nd local arrest, it said.

Deputies called a family member to take custody of the child, and the incident was reported to the Department of Children and Families.

It wasn’t immediately known if Wagner or Miller had an attorney.
