Rescue workers responded to a fatal accident involving a tractor trailer and a truck that killed one driver in Pembroke Pines early Thursday.
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. in the area of U.S. 27 and Johnson Street and had all southbound lanes of U.S. 27 closed from Johnson Street.
Pembroke Pines Fire Department spokesman Al Diliello said a box truck rear-ended an 18-wheeler. The Jaws of Life had to be used to free the driver of the box truck, who was taken by air to Memorial Regional Medical Center in critical condition, Diliello said.
