Police on Wednesday were searching for the driver of a black Dodge Ram, who ran over a woman after she was ejected from the passenger seat and fell onto the street.
For some reason, the woman was either ejected or fell out of the car on Tuesday around 2:45 p.m.and then was run over by the truck's rear tire, which caused life threatening injuries.
Police are investigating whether the passenger was intentionally tossed out of the car. Several people called 911 after they saw her bleeding in the middle of the road.
The vehicle fled southbound on NW 1st Avenue and then made a left onto NW 10th Street.
"This individual that was driving didn't care, he just sped off," said police spokesman Sgt. Freddie Cruz.
Surveillance cameras in the area caught the situation.
The woman was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
"This happened in broad daylight. we know someone heard something. Someone saw something. We need someone to please come forward.help us out with this investigation," said Cruz.
Anyone with information was asked to call 305-471-TIPS.
