Two men who were trapped after a car crashed into a house in Hollywood Friday have been taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, authorities said.

The men, in their early 30s, "suffered severe, blunt-force trauma to the upper torso and the head" in the crash at 2645 Taft St., Hollywood Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Joel Medina said.

Neighbor Maria Clinton said in Spanish that she saw the car traveling at a high rate of speed down Taft – perhaps as fast as 80 miles an hour.

"It looks like the car may have lost control. It careened off the side of the road," Medina said.

The late model Toyota Corolla struck the carport of the house, which received "significant structural damage," but the home itself is still habitable, Medina said.

Hollywood Police spent hours measuring the final feet the car traveled before hitting the house. Authorities counted four people inside the home when the crash happened. None were injured.
