A Florida man who said he used his “powers of invisibility” to steal a pack of cigarettes returned to the scene of the crime to confess, according to a Fort Pierce Police report.

The confession was made when the man entered the Walgreens on Orange Avenue on June 19 and told the cashier about taking the cigarettes four or five months earlier, the recently released report said.

He asked the cashier not to call the police and started walking through the store, but the cashier called the cops anyway.

When officers arrived, the man told them he wasn't able to sleep the previous night and said he wanted to come to the store when it opened in the morning, the report said.

The man explained that he had been on "street drugs" at the time of the theft that gave him the ability to become invisible, the report said.

“(The man) used his powers of invisibility to pass through the counter and take a carton of Kool brand menthol cigarettes undetected,” the police report said.

The carton of cigarettes was valued at about $60 and the man said he wanted to pay for the carton but only had $8 on his debit card, police said.

The store did not have surveillance video to prove the theft, so he couldn't be charged, but the cashier said she would attempt to find archival surveillance video, the report said.

The man was given a trespass warning and was escorted out of the Walgreens, police said.
