A woman was arrested for plotting to rob her father after he recognized the thief as her boyfriend, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said.
Doeminique Sylvester, her boyfriend Christopher Mise and another man, Jason Tortora, developed a plan to get money by stealing from her father, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The three got together on Saturday and decided to rob Rene Jimenez, Sylvester’s father, on Sunday, before he left to church, authorities said.
Sylvester gave the two men a detailed description of her father’s Sunday schedule, telling them he went to church and later volunteered as a chaplain at the Hernando County Detention Center, deputies said.
On June 30, Miser and Tortora drove to Jimenez’s house and parked down the road from his house. They walked to his house and waited for him to come out, the statement said.
Miser was wearing dark clothes and had his face covered with a bandana. He was carrying a black semi-automatic style metal BB gun, which closely resembled a .45-caliber handgun, the sheriff’s office said.
When Jimenez came out, Miser hit him in the head with the gun, which caused him to fall on his knees. He continued to hit him with the gun, but Jimenez fought back, deputies said.
Jimenez then removed the bandana from Miser’s face and realized it was his daughter’s boyfriend who was hitting him, the statement said.
A neighbor saw Miser running to the nearby car and leaving with Tortora, the sheriff’s office said.
After authorities arrived, Jimenez was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released, according to deputies.
After confirming that all three suspects took part in the crime, they were all arrested, the sheriff’s office said. It wasn’t immediately known if they had attorneys.
Miser faces charges of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and aggravated battery. He was being held on a $110,000 bond.
Tortora faces charges of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. He was being held on a $100,000 bond.
Sylvester faces charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. She was being held on a $50,000 bond.
