The hunt for a man who abducted a 9-year-old girl who later escaped from him continued Wednesday as Fort Lauderdale Police released a sketch of the suspect.
The incident happened around 1 p.m. Monday as the girl was walking in the area of Northwest 2nd Street and Northwest 9th Avenue, police said.

Police say the suspect forced the girl into his car and tried to drive away but she was able to escape from the moving vehicle after a brief struggle. She ran to an adult nearby for help.
Police said special victims unit detectives have been working around the clock to get further details about the suspect and his vehicle, which is described as a white, four-door 2004 or 2005 Chevy Impala.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8, between 140-150 pounds, with a thin build and full beard grown into a triangle. He was last seen wearing a light blue T-shirt and dark green pants.
The motive behind the abduction is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 954-828-5964.
