North Miami Beach Police detectives went door to door Friday, handing out flyers seeking information on the homicide of a 28-year-old mother in her home early Thursday.
Guerline Noel was shot to death after two robbers held her family hostage in the bathroom at gunpoint, according to her husband. Clauvens Cenor said he escaped through a window, but when he returned to their home at 250 NE 175th Terrace he found his wife dead.
The suspects did not cover their faces, but they were seen leaving the area on foot – which is why detectives were canvassing the area.
“If they’re leaving on foot, they’re not going to go a far distance, but many times there’s getaway cars. So we’re also looking at video as well, from surrounding businesses,” said North Miami Beach Police Major Kathy Katerman.
Police were called about the incident at 12:41 a.m. Thursday.
Noel was sitting inside a car studying when the men approached her, Cenor said. They walked inside with her and asked for “everything,” then forced the couple, their 3-year-old son and Noel’s sister into the bathroom. The robbers took their cell phones, Cenor said.
Authorities ask anyone with information on the case to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
