Jean Moore says she felt stupid.

"He just seemed very sincere about a lot of things," she said about the man accused of bilking her out of more than $3,000.

According to court records, Toltin was previously convicted two times of exploiting the elderly. Moore, who is 90, said he did it to her last month.

Toltin showed up at her Tamarac condominium on June 15 offering to clean her air conditioning ducts for $30. He then convinced her black mold had to be removed, for an additional $450, a BSO arrest affidavit said.

Toltin returned to Moore's condo three more times last month, convincing her work had to be done, collecting hundreds of dollars each time, according to the affidavit. On two of those occasions Toltin persuaded Moore to get into his car and take a ride to her credit union, where she withdrew almost $1,900, then turned that cash over to Toltin.

"I didn’t see him for a while, a couple of days or something like that, and when he came back I said 'you know I thought that you had been stealing from me.' He was so upset," said Moore.
