Four to six men dressed as police officers entered and robbed a West Miami home early Saturday morning.
The men were wearing police insignia and face coverings when they entered the home at 6367 Southwest 12th Street, according to West Miami Police Chief Nelson Andreu.
A family of six to seven people, including a child as young as eight-years-old, was inside at the time of the robbery, he said.
The police impersonators, most of whom were armed, took property from the home as well one of the family's vehicles, according to Andreu.
Officials said there were no injuries.
The family was too shaken up to speak with reporters, but neighbors said they were in shock following the robbery.
"I normally know all the cops here, for that to really happen is kinda shocking," neighbor Gabriel Reyes said.
They said police cruisers normally circulate the neighborhood and most people know the officers.
"It's scary because I'm sure a lot of people would fall for that," neighbor Exys Ibanez said. "However the cops in this neighborhood, we're pretty familiar with them."
Police don't have a detailed description of the suspects and are urging anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
