Fort Lauderdale Police say thieves stole more than $100,000 worth of electronics in a pair of burglaries at Best Buy Mobile stores that they believe are related to other break-ins in South Florida.
The first burglary happened back on April 22 at the store at 2350 N. Federal Highway, when the suspects got inside by cutting a hole in the roof, police said.
Once inside, the suspects forced open cases containing various electronic devices and stole about $30,000 worth of merchandise.
In the second burglary, which happened July 3 at the Best Buy Mobile store at 1489 Southeast 17th Street, the suspects got inside by smashing a hole in the wall of a neighboring business and then crawling through the wall, police said.
"The same wall that they were able to take all that merchandise and basically plug it back through the wall to, who knows, another suspect," police spokeswoman Det. DeAnna Greenlaw said.
She said three suspects were seen on surveillance video, but there could be more.
The crooks managed to get away with $90,000 worth of merchandise, according to police.
Surveillance video from the most recent burglary shows the suspects crawling through the hole in the wall to enter the business.
Detectives believe the burglaries may be linked to similar incidents in the City of Largo, and detectives from both cities are asking for the public's help in finding the thieves.
