A suspect has been arrested on first-degree murder and attempted murder with a firearm charges in this week’s shooting of two men in Hallandale Beach, police said Thursday.
Clifton Afflick-Laidley, 26, of Hollywood fatally wounded Vincent Strickland, 22, of Hallandale Beach in the shooting at 1013 Northwest 1st Ave. on Tuesday at about 4:40 p.m., police said in a statement.
He also shot Tarod Thomas, 26, of Hollywood, police said. Both men were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, according to Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue.
A hospital employee said Thursday that Thomas is not listed as a patient there.
Police detectives collected evidence and information from witnesses to link Afflick-Laidley to the crime and develop probable cause for an arrest, police said. They found Afflick-Laidley at a relative’s home in West Park, where he was taken into custody without incident, police said.
Afflick-Laidley is being held on no bond at the Broward County Main Jail, online jail records said. It wasn’t immediately known whether he has an attorney.
