Three people were hospitalized and a driver arrested after a stolen truck lost control and crashed in Miami Friday morning.

Four people were inside the black truck when it crashed in the area of Southwest 2nd Avenue and 1st Street shortly before 6 a.m., Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said.

Reyes said before the crash, an officer had spotted the truck, ran its license plate and discovered it had been reported stolen.

The officer lost sight of the truck and by the time he found it, the crash had happened, Reyes said.

Three of the passengers were taken to Ryder Trauma Center in serious condition, Reyes said. The driver suffered minor injuries.

The driver, who wasn't identified, is charged with grand theft auto but could face more serious charges, Reyes said.

"If one of those occupants indeed does pass, the driver of that vehicle may be facing felony murder," she said.

Authorities said the truck also contained stolen computers and other electronics. At least one of the passengers was a juvenile, Reyes said.

Several officers were at the scene early Friday, and police are still investigating the incident.
