A young girl, who authorities were searching for in connection to a possible abduction, was found with her two parents in southwest Miami-Dade County.
Earlier, authorities had issued an Amber Alert after after a driver saw what appeared to be a child in the trunk of a gray 2013 Chevy Impala, Miami-Dade Police said. But no one had reported a child missing.
A witness said the car was seen heading south on Red Road when the trunk opened in the area of SW 58t Avenue and SW 40th Street. Another driver saw what appeared to be a little girl in the trunk, police said.
A man got out of the car to close the trunk, and he then turned left on Bird Road, heading east. The other driver was able to get the license tag. The car was a rental and the agency said the renters were Hernan E. Daza-Noellino and Anna Rita Di Frances Cantonio, who police said were the girl's parents.
The father told police that his daughter lowered the back seat of the car to get a water bottle that had fallen into the trunk. At an intersection, the father got out of the car and opened the trunk to get the water bottle for her, police said. He then got into the car and continued eastbound on SW 40th Street.
The father and daughter were located at a store.
