The State Attorney’s Office released more than 100 pages of its investigation into a deadly hit-and run that happened in Miami Beach Jan. 28.
Also released were photos that show Collins Avenue after 20-year-old Karlie Tomica allegedly drove drunk, and hit and killed popular chef Stefano Riccioletti. That’s when the calls to 911 were made.
“It was a loud bang and I just saw a guy fly across our property,” one caller from the Shelborne Hotel said.
“Someone got hit by a car and the car kept on going and the guy’s laying on the concrete … and he’s not moving,” another caller said.
Investigators said the self-proclaimed “party princess” had a blood alcohol level three times over the legal limit. She was arrested minutes later – thanks in large part to those people who called for help.
“I’m following her right now,” one man said. “The lady is really drunk. She just came out of the car.”
Another witness said it was obvious the car Tomica was driving had been in an accident and said he saw Tomica when she arrived home. That man, Julio Leyva, who worked valet where she lived, was interviewed by detectives.
He told them that Tomica was unsteady on her feet, and “walking way too fast.”
Leyva also told detectives there was blood on the car.
Investigators said when Tomica was arrested, they found Riccioletti’s blood in her hair, an ID belonging to a 21-year-old woman, and papers with bartending slogans meant to be humorous.
Tomica is on house arrest facing many charges including DUI manslaughter.
Her attorney, Mark Shapiro, did not immediately provide a response to the latest evidence released in the case.
