Sitting in the bed with his leg propped up, dressed in his hospital gown, local rapper Young Scrilla relieved the night he and two others were shot while shooting a music video in Overtown.

“It was two guys with masks over their face, just shooting. Just started shooting AK-47s,” Scrilla said.

Shots rang out on the set Saturday night. Three men were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital afterward.

“And I got up and I attempted to run, but by then I lost so much blood I passed out,” Scrilla said.

He said one of his friends who was also hit slapped him back to consciousness so he could get up and start running again – but they still weren’t out of the line of fire.

“They did a U-turn, they came back, I guess trying to finish us off. They started shooting again,” Scrilla said. “Once they started shooting (again), I don’t know what happened after that. Everything else was just like a blackout. I mean, I don’t remember too much from there.”

Scrilla said when they do a video a shoot they normally get police protection, but for some reason decided to opt out this time.

“I’m pretty sure everybody probably would never imagine anything to this level happening to them, but honestly I can say I didn’t see it coming, because I don’t provoke anyone in my music,” he said.

Police ask anyone with information on the shooting to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
