Hamburgers and hot dogs are on the grill and the orders are are rolling in at D Dog House in Brickell, but a server isn't the one taking them. You take your own order with an iPad. They're installed at every booth.

"Everybody has loved it," General Manager Camilo Gonzalez said. "We got great feedback from everybody. They love the concept."

Gonzalez said this is the first restaurant in the United States to display a menu on an iPad and give customers the option to order their lunch or dinner with just a few taps. While it has its advantages, not everyone likes the idea.

"Sometimes if you want to order something, and you want to ask a question, it's not answered on the iPad," Lucas Goldberg, a Miami visitor said. "I don't like it 100 percent."

When you're not ordering food, you can surf the Internet, play games, and even take pictures. At one booth, thousands have already done that since the restaurant opened in May.

"I think we're in a developing world, as far as technology and service," Gonzalez said. "Everything in a way is being replaced by technology."

The restaurant also has paper menus, and don't worry, no servers were fired for the handy iPad app. When the restaurant opened, the iPads were already at the tables.
