A team of Hallandale Beach Police officers traveled to Toronto over the weekend as part of their investigation into the murder of a Canadian couple in South Florida earlier this month.

Police say 71-year-old David Pichosky and 66-year-old Rochelle Wise were found dead in their apartment at the Venetian Park West at 926 Northeast 25th Avenue on Jan. 10.

They were both retired and still lived in Toronto in the warmer months.

"We have a fairly good idea as to their life in South Florida and what they did while they were there but however we don't know what their interaction with their family, friends and colleagues were here in Toronto so it was a good opportunity for us to come here and meet with the family," Hallandale Beach Police Chief Dwayne Flournoy said.

Flournoy and a team of three homicide detectives arrived in Toronto Sunday to meet with the couple's family and continue their investigation.

"We really haven't had an opportunity to sit down and meet with the family, agency to family, to let them know that this case is critical to us, it's important to us and I'm dedicating a tremendous amount of resources to solving this case," Flournoy said.

Police haven't said much about the crime, including how the couple was killed.

"I can tell you that I'm elated as to where we are considering the short time span and the complexity of the case. We are analyzing a tremendous amount of evidence," Flournoy said. "There's a tremendous amount of evidence in the custody of the lab and we're processing that. And I believe, I truly believe, we're going to solve this case."
