A red ribbon was cut Tuesday at Harvard House, which officially reopened to 140 low income residences in North Miami Beach.

“I’m living here for 11 years but I can’t tell you how happy I am for the renovations, “said Rose Mondesir. “Everything is brand new!”

More than 100 people including North Miami Beach Mayor George Vallejo were present at the grand reopening ceremony put on by Carrfour supportive housing.

“Ladies and gentleman this is good,” said Vallejo. “This redesigned remodeled rehabilitated Harvard House is good.”

The renovations include a manicured lawn, fresh paint and new facilities.

Thanks to some non-profit developers, $8 million in federal stimulus funds were put to use in Miami-Dade to completely revamp this property.

“We were really guided by making sure that it’s a home that our families can be proud of,” said Carrfour’s CEO, Stephanie Berman-Eisenberg. “That their kids can be proud of bringing their friend homes to visit and that’s really important to us.”

The residents were moved out during the renovations, but now Mondesir is home for good.

“I’m so happy to be here,” said Mondesir. “I’m so happy just so happy and proud to be here!”
