Robbery A Possible Motive in Killing of Canadian Couple

Robbery is now a possible motive in the killing of a Canadian couple found dead in Hallandale Beach earlier this year after it was discovered that the wedding ring of one of the victims is missing, police said Thursday.

David Pichosky and Rochelle Wise were found dead inside their apartment at the Venetian Park West at 926 Northeast 25th Avenue on Jan. 10.

Police believe the couple was asphyxiated but haven't said how they were asphyxiated.

Police Release Video in Canadian Couple's Murder

On Thursday, police said they discovered Wise's wedding ring, worth about $16,000, is missing. The ring is size 6 1/2, platinum finish with five half carat diamonds on the top in a half moon shape. It is possibly engraved with the letters "DCC" inside and has a unique locking mechanism at the base of the ring.

Police are asking all pawn shop and jewelry exchange businesses to review their inventory and notify police if they have this or a similar ring.

Police Travel to Toronto to Probe Hallandale Killings

Pichosky, 71, and Wise, 66, were seen on video at a Hallandale Beach Wal Mart on Jan. 8, and had been communicating with family through Facetime on the morning of Jan. 9. Their bodies were discovered the next day when they didn't show up to meet neighbors for lunch, police said.

were both retired and still lived in Toronto in the warmer months. In January, Hallandale Beach Police traveled to Canada as part of their investigation into the crime.

A reward of $51,000 has been offered in the case.
