More than 7,000 people are participating in the 2013 Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run, which will continue in Fort Lauderdale Thursday.
The 5K run or walk will pass through the streets of Downtown Fort Lauderdale, causing closure and possible delays.
Alton Road Construction Begins Monday
On Thursday, Las Olas Boulevard will be closed from Andrews Avenue to Southeast 2nd Avenue beginning at 1 p.m.
Southeast 1st Avenue will also be closed from Southeast 2nd Street to Las Olas Boulevard.
Participants are set to arrive beginning at 4 p.m. and traffic is expected to increase.

The race will begin at 6:45 p.m. and will finish at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Roadways will reopen at 9:30 p.m., with the exception of Las Olas Boulevard.
By 11 p.m. all roads are expected to reopen.
This year is expected to bring the biggest crowd in the history of the race, which is the first of the three runs across the tri-county area.

The run is open to employees of businesses, corporations, government agencies, financial institutions and non-profit companies. A portion of the proceeds from the Fort Lauderdale run will benefit United Way.
