A tornado watch was issued for Miami-Dade, Broward and mainland Monroe counties until 8 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service said.
The watch includes the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Clewiston, Flamingo, Naples and West Palm Beach.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes in and to the watch area. Hail of one to two inches in diameter along with thunderstorm wind gusts of up to 60 mph are also possible.
