Watching from his Pompano Beach auto shop, Chris Bauman couldn't believe how quickly Thursday evening's storm moved in, and then moved out.

"All of a sudden, we rushed to the front and we seen this wind, and it was just gray. It was completely gray," Bauman said.

Gray skies and gusty winds made the horizon near invisible, so Bauman reached for his cell phone, and turned his camera on Mother Nature.

"We went running for cover, and then, someone's like, take your cell phone out," he said. "So, we took our cell phone out and started videoing, and I couldn't believe it."

Thursday was an intense weather day in South Florida – and particularly in Pompano, where the storm raged on in Bauman's video for about four minutes. In it, he captured a stop sign flapping in the wind, and gusts pushing a trailer outside his shop into a nearby van.

"It was really intense," he said. "In the very beginning, we were running for cover."

Bauman said the storm was so powerful, he didn't even notice a huge tree uprooted across the street at Apollo Park.
