LeBron James is the clear favorite to win his fourth MVP award this season, and his Miami Heat have the best record in the NBA, but he could not hold onto his crown as the owner of the top-selling jersey in the NBA.
The NBA announced in an official release that Anthony now has the top selling jersey in the league since the start of the 2012-13 season. James is now number two, having been the top seller four times previously in his career.
The Heat were the second-best jersey sellers as a team, trailing only the Knicks, who are poised to make the playoffs for the third season in a row following a stretch of six seasons without a playoff appearance.
Dwyane Wade had the seventh-best selling jersey this season, the only other member of the Heat in the top 15. The Heat are one of six teams with two players in the top 15. Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, the Lakers' Kobe Bryant, and Chicago's Derrick Rose rounded out the top five.
On the team rankings, the Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, and Bulls were also in the top five. The rankings (both team and player) are based on combined sales at the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue and NBAStore.com from November 2012 to present.
James is having another banner year on the court. He leads the NBA in field goals, and tops the league in player efficiency rating (an advanced statistic measuring a player's entire contribution to his team) for the sixth straight season.
He has won the NBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Month award for each of the five months the award has been given this season, the first time that has ever happened.
