40 Children in Hialeah Become U.S. Citizens

A group of 40 Hialeah-area children became U.S. citizens Wednesday during a special ceremony.

The children, who are originally from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, India, Mexico and Venezuela, attended the naturalization ceremony together.

During the ceremony, Lady Liberty received the children and congratulated them during the ceremony.

During the past year, USCIS has helped more than 640,000 men, women and children become United States citizens.

Eight-year-old  Remy Chrisdou Hernandesz said he was happy to become a citizen.

"We are very grateful for this country," said his father Carlos Perez.
