Retired Cuban leader Fidel Castro made a rare public appearance during Sunday’s opening session of the National Assembly.
Fidel Castro took his seat beside brother President Raul Castro, making it the first time he has graced the assembly chambers since 2010, Reuters reports.

Raul Castro said he won't seek another five-year term after the one he's starting Sunday ends, the Associated Press reported. He tapped 52-year-old Miguel Diaz-Canel as his top deputy, ready to assume the presidency without any disruption.
